Spring Time Is The Perfect Time For An Indoor Bulb Garden

While spring time is the perfect time to start an indoor bulb garden, you do not have to wait until the spring to get started. You can actually plant some bulbs indoors at any time of the year so that beautiful flowers can bloom. Such flowers as amaryllis and paper whites really do not even require a lot of work besides having some heat and a little water. However, there are some flowers that will require a period of pre-chilling. In other words, you will have to fake winter time for them. This is actually quite easy to do and it is really worthwhile as you will soon have pots of cheerful blooms to enjoy throughout the dreary days of winter. Sometimes you may even be able to find bulbs that have already been pre-chilled for you.

What You Should Know About An Indoor Bulb Garden

An indoor bulb garden is a type of man made hybrid garden. They are grown with a diverse collection of contemporary indoor flowering plants. All they require is a cool location in bright indirect light away from heating ducts and televisions. This is because if they are too close to heat the natural flowering process of your indoor bulb garden will speed up and your plants' lives will be shortened.
Indoor bulb gardens do not need any humidity because they are planted in sandy soil that provides excellent drainage. As such, there will be no pests to worry about but you will need to place your plant on a saucer to catch the water as it runs out.

These gardens will give you a little bit of everything in a single container. They are easy to care for as they only need to be watered every couple of days and they do not need to be fertilized. Then, after your plant is done flowering, you can just replace it with a new one but you cannot plant it outdoors. This is why you should try to plant flowers that will all bloom on different schedules so that you can enjoy your plant longer. You can purchase your garden at your local garden center or floral shop from January through March. Of course, there are also some places online where you can purchase these as well. While they are not very expensive, they are very enjoyable throughout the dreary months of winter time.
